Best Beaches in Gozo
Your guide to the finest beaches on Gozo — Malta's quieter sister island with the stunning red-sand Ramla Bay and unspoiled rural coastline.
Exploring Gozo
Gozo is Malta's quieter, greener sister island, reached by a short ferry ride from Ċirkewwa. Life here moves at a gentler pace — terraced hillsides, Baroque churches, and ancient temples set the scene. Ramla Bay is Gozo's crown jewel: a wide sweep of distinctive orange-red sand backed by fertile farmland and overlooked by the remains of Calypso's Cave from Homeric legend. The bay's shallow, warm waters are ideal for families, and its relatively uncrowded sands provide a striking contrast to the busier beaches on the main island. Beyond Ramla, Gozo's coastline is largely rocky, dotted with hidden swimming spots and sea caves best explored by boat. The island's compact size makes it easy to combine a morning at the beach with afternoon visits to the Citadel in Victoria, the Ġgantija Temples, or the salt pans at Marsalforn.
