Bai Truong, known internationally as Long Beach, is Phu Quoc's signature coastline — a sweeping 20 km arc of golden sand running along the entire western shore of the island. As a west-facing beach, Long Beach is renowned throughout Southeast Asia for its extraordinary sunsets, when the sky above the Gulf of Thailand blazes in spectacular shades of orange, pink, and violet. The beach is so long that it absorbs tourists easily, and quieter stretches are readily found even in peak season by walking north from the main resort cluster near Duong Dong town.
Long Beach is Phu Quoc's main tourist hub, fronted by the island's densest concentration of international resort hotels, restaurants, dive shops, and tour operators. The Duong Dong section of the beach has pier bars standing on stilts above the water, and nightly seafood barbecue spots set up tables directly on the sand. Water sports concessions offer jet skiing, windsurfing, parasailing, and banana boat rides throughout the day.
For families, the beach is ideal during the dry season. The water is warm, the slope is gentle, and there are plenty of calm swimming zones. Snorkelling at Long Beach is less rewarding than at Sao Beach on the east coast, as the west coast sand tends to stir up visibility, but day trips to the An Thoi island chain just south offer some of Vietnam's best diving conditions.
Phu Quoc International Airport is just 10 km north of Duong Dong town on the Long Beach strip — a 15-minute taxi ride. The beach is easily walkable from town, or hop on a motorbike taxi (xe om) to any point along the 20 km stretch.
November to April (dry season) gives the best conditions: warm, calm, clear sea. May–October is wet season and can be rainy — some days are still beautiful but the sea can be choppy and some beach bars close.
Head north of Duong Dong for quieter stretches. Budget around 15 km for the sunset "sweet spot" near Duong Dong pier. Book island-hopping tours to An Thoi departing from the southern docks for the best snorkelling.
