Bac My An Beach occupies a stretch of Da Nang's coastline between the bustling resort zone near the Dragon Bridge and the cultural area around the Marble Mountains. Primarily a residential neighbourhood, this beach has become increasingly popular with Da Nang's growing expat community and discerning Vietnamese visitors who prefer a quieter atmosphere without sacrificing the quality of the sand and water.
The beach itself is wide and well-maintained, with fine white sand and warm, clear South China Sea water ideal for swimming from May through September. The waves here are gentler than at My Khe's surf zones, making it excellent for families with small children. Local exercise culture is on full display — early mornings bring tai chi groups, badminton players, and joggers making the most of the wide flat sand at low tide.
The surrounding neighbourhood features some of Da Nang's best local restaurants serving fresh seafood and Central Vietnamese specialties at very reasonable prices. The famous Furama Resort anchors the southern end of the beach, while smaller guesthouses and apartments line the rest of the strip. It is the kind of place that rewards those who take time to slow down, explore the back streets, and eat where the locals eat.
About 6 km from Da Nang city centre, easily reached by Grab taxi in 10 minutes. The beach is along Vo Nguyen Giap road — look for the Furama Resort as a landmark.
May to September for swimming. The beach is especially beautiful at sunrise — arrive before 6am for the best light. Avoid October–November when typhoon swells can create dangerous conditions.
Try the local bánh mì and bún bò Huế stalls behind the beach for breakfast. The neighbourhood supermarkets have sunscreen and beach supplies. Renting a bicycle lets you explore the whole coastal strip.
