Bells is a powerful right-hand point break over a submerged rock shelf — it generates long, hollow waves with significant swell energy from the Southern Ocean. Home to the Rip Curl Pro since 1961, the longest-running professional surfing competition in the world. The exposed headland location and cold water are not suitable for beginners or casual swimmers.

Point Break Expert Only No Beginners

Important: Bells Beach is strictly for experienced surfers. The cold Southern Ocean water (13–18°C), powerful swell, and rock shelf make this an unsuitable location for beginners and non-swimmers. A wetsuit is essential year-round.
