Torba Beach sits on the quiet northeastern shore of the Bodrum peninsula, sheltered from the prevailing meltemi winds that dominate the western bays. This protection creates uniquely calm, mirror-like water that gives Torba some of the best visibility for snorkeling anywhere on the peninsula. The small fishing village behind the beach has preserved its local character better than most Bodrum bays, with a handful of good fish restaurants, a handful of small hotels, and an overall atmosphere of genuine relaxation rather than resort tourism.
The snorkeling at Torba is exceptional. The rocky seabed in the cove and around the bay's edges supports a rich community of Aegean marine life — common octopus, moray eels, sea bream, grouper, wrasse, and sea urchins are regularly encountered at snorkeling depths. The calm, clear water makes even casual swimmers comfortable exploring below the surface. Several dive operators from Bodrum run boat dives to the area's deeper sites.
Torba is also a hub for yacht cruising — the small marina fills with gulets and sailing yachts in summer, adding a picturesque dimension to the village scene. The combination of unspoilt fishing village, excellent snorkeling, and easy access to Bodrum town makes Torba one of the more rewarding choices for visitors wanting an authentic Aegean experience.
Torba is 8 km northeast of Bodrum town centre. Dolmuş from Bodrum market area runs regularly. By car from Bodrum, follow signs toward Torba via the north coast road — about 15 minutes. Bodrum-Milas Airport is 35 km north — approximately 45 minutes.
May–October. The lack of meltemi wind exposure means Torba is comfortable even on windier days when west-facing bays are choppy. Best snorkeling is June–October. July–August are busiest but still much quieter than the main Bodrum beaches.
Bring your own snorkeling gear (mask, fins) or rent from Bodrum town. The rocky edges of the bay offer the best marine life encounters. Fish restaurants in the village are excellent and good value — booking ahead is worthwhile on summer evenings. A water taxi from Bodrum marina reaches Torba in 20 minutes.
