About Gumbet Beach

Gümbet Beach is the most resort-oriented bay on the Bodrum peninsula — a wide, sandy crescent just 2 kilometres west of Bodrum's iconic Castle of St Peter and marina. Of all Bodrum's beaches, Gümbet has the most facilities, the most watersports options, and the most lively holiday atmosphere. The beach itself is genuinely sandy (a relative rarity on the Turkish Aegean coast), wide and well-maintained.

The reliable afternoon meltemi winds that sweep down the Bodrum peninsula each summer afternoon make Gümbet one of Turkey's most popular windsurfing spots. Several internationally-known surf schools and equipment rental operations are based here, offering lessons and hire for windsurfers of all levels. The morning calm before the wind builds gives good swimming and snorkeling conditions.

In the evenings, the beach bar scene along Gümbet's promenade is one of the Aegean coast's most active — a strip of bars and restaurants that attracts both local Turkish youth and international holiday crowds. This makes Gümbet a good choice for those wanting both a beach holiday and some night-time entertainment within a short walk of the sand.
