Railay Beach is one of Thailand's most iconic stretches of sand, a peninsula accessible only by longtail boat due to the towering limestone cliffs that isolate it from the mainland. This dramatic setting β sheer karst walls rising hundreds of metres from emerald-green water β has made Railay a world-famous destination for rock climbers, photographers, and beach lovers seeking genuine tropical paradise. The peninsula has four main beaches: Railay West (the main sunset beach), Railay East (mangrove-lined with bars), Phra Nang Cave Beach, and Tonsai Beach (backpacker climbing haven).
Despite growing popularity, Railay retains an end-of-the-world magic β there are no roads, no cars, and the pace of life here is dictated by tides and sunsets.
Only accessible by longtail boat from Ao Nang (15 min) or Krabi Town pier (45 min). No vehicles on the peninsula. Paths between beaches involve some climbing.
Take a longtail boat from Ao Nang Beach (150 THB, 15 minutes) or from Krabi Town's Klong Jilad Pier. Boats run regularly during daylight hours.
