Kata Beach

Kata Beach offers the perfect balance between Phuket's busy tourist beaches and secluded coves. Known as Phuket's best surfing beach during the monsoon season, it transforms into a calm swimming paradise from November to April. The beach is framed by lush green hills and dotted with restaurants, making it one of the island's most picturesque stretches of coastline.

From May to October, Kata becomes a surfer's haven as the southwest monsoon brings consistent swells to its shores. The Kata Surfing Contest, held annually, attracts wave riders from across Thailand and beyond. Local surf shops line the beach road, offering board rentals and lessons for beginners eager to catch their first wave in the warm Andaman waters. The twin bays of Kata and Kata Noi, separated by a rocky headland, each offer their own unique character and wave conditions.

During the high season from November to April, Kata transforms into the ideal family beach. The calm, clear waters are perfect for swimming and snorkeling, while the wide sandy shore provides ample space for children to build sandcastles. The surrounding area is filled with laid-back restaurants, cozy cafes, and small boutique shops, giving Kata a relaxed village feel that sets it apart from the busier resort towns further north.
