Kamala Beach is a relaxed, family-friendly stretch of sand on Phuket's west coast, sitting between the bustle of Patong and the exclusivity of Surin. The 2-kilometre bay is backed by a quiet Muslim fishing village with local restaurants serving fresh seafood at a fraction of resort prices. The gentle curve of the bay creates sheltered swimming conditions during high season, and the beach remains refreshingly uncommercialized despite the presence of several upscale resorts.
Kamala is also home to the FantaSea cultural theme park, which draws visitors for its spectacular evening shows. The beach is wide enough to never feel crowded, and the sunsets from the northern headland are among Phuket's finest.
Flat access from the main road. The beach is wide and easy to walk on. Several access points along the beachfront road.
Located 20 minutes north of Patong. Take a taxi, tuk-tuk, or rent a motorbike. Songthaews (shared vans) run from Phuket Town.
