Son Bou is Menorca's longest beach and one of its most popular โ a magnificent straight stretch of fine white sand running for 2.5 kilometres along the protected south coast. The consistently clear, blue water and gentle waves make it ideal for families, and the full range of facilities means it's a comfortable base for a full beach day.
At the western end of the beach, emerging from the sand dunes, are the remarkable ruins of an Early Christian basilica from the 5thโ6th century AD โ a fascinating historic site that you can explore. The surrounding dune ecosystem is protected and home to rare plants and birds, giving the beach an unusual natural-cultural dual character.
Beyond the beach, the two resort urbanisations of Sant Jaume and Son Bou village provide hotels, restaurants, and shops. Water sports operators offer jet skiing, paddleboarding, and boat trips. Despite its size and facilities, Son Bou doesn't feel overwhelmingly crowded thanks to its generous 2.5-kilometre length.
Good flat access from the resort car parks. Some sections of the beach have adapted facilities. The flat sand is easier for wheelchairs than rocky beaches.
Drive from Alaior or Mahรณn (30โ40 min). Large car parks at the beach โ paid in summer. Summer bus services from major towns.
