Benirras is one of Ibiza's most atmospheric and unique beaches — a sheltered northern cove dramatically enclosed by towering red-stone cliffs and fragrant pine forests. The beach faces due west, making it one of the island's finest sunset spots, and its spiritual energy has attracted artists, musicians, and free spirits for decades.
Every Sunday evening from May to October, as the sun approaches the horizon, local drummers and musicians gather at the end of the beach and launch into improvised drum circles. Hundreds of people gather on the rocks and sand to watch the sunset accompanied by this extraordinary communal music-making — one of the most memorable experiences in all of Ibiza.
The beach itself is beautiful: the water is clear and calm in gentle conditions, sheltered from the prevailing south winds. A bar-restaurant under ancient tamarind trees serves cold drinks and fresh fish. The coarse sand and small pebbles are typical of Ibiza's north coast, but the setting more than compensates.
Stepped path leads down to the beach from the road. Pebble and coarse sand surface. Not suitable for wheelchairs.
Roadside parking near the beach (limited). A summer bus service runs from Sant Joan. On Sunday evenings arrive very early as the area fills completely.
