Surfing Beaches in Punta Cana

Macao Beach is Punta Cana's only genuine surf destination — a wide, undeveloped arc of white sand on the open Atlantic coast where consistent northeast swells produce rideable waves from October through March. Unlike the reef-protected Bavaro strip to the south, Macao faces the open ocean and catches the Atlantic swell energy that makes it the best beginner-to-intermediate surf spot in the east.
