White Beach on Panglao Island is one of Bohol's most accessible and appealing beaches — a stretch of soft white sand on the island's southern coastline that rivals any beach in the Visayas for sheer natural beauty. The sand here is notably fine and pale, the water is a luminous turquoise, and the beach is wide enough to feel pleasantly spacious even during busy weekends when Filipino families descend from Tagbilaran for a day at the sea. It's a beach that functions perfectly as a main destination or as a complement to diving-focused days at Alona.
The snorkeling directly from White Beach is rewarding — coral gardens form a continuous fringe along the coastline, starting at waist depth and extending to 5–10 metres further out. Sea turtles are a regular sighting, easily visible from the surface while snorkeling along the reef edge. The water is well-sheltered by the shallow bay, keeping wave action minimal and ensuring the swim zone is safe and comfortable for all ages. Visible marine biodiversity includes surgeonfish, parrotfish, moorish idols, and butterflyfish concentrated in and around the coral heads.
White Beach Panglao sits close to Alona Beach, making both beaches easy to combine in a single day or as a split accommodation option. The resort infrastructure at White Beach caters to a slightly more comfortable market than the backpacker-oriented Alona strip, with a greater proportion of family resorts and mid-range hotels. Day-trippers can access the beach for free, and gear rental is available from several operators along the beachfront. For families visiting Bohol, this beach offers the ideal combination of beautiful setting, safe swimming, good snorkeling, and easy access to Bohol's inland attractions.
Short tricycle or habal-habal ride from Alona Beach (10 min, ₱50). From Tagbilaran Airport or City: taxi to Panglao town then onward by tricycle. A taxi from the airport directly costs around ₱400–500.
November to April for calm water and maximum sunshine. The beach is beautiful year-round. Weekdays are less crowded than weekends year-round. Early morning visits offer the best snorkeling visibility and fewest swimmers in the water.
Snorkel gear rental is available for ₱150/day. Sea turtles are most visible early morning. Book boat trips to Balicasag Island through your resort for world-class diving and snorkeling 30 min offshore. Rent a motorbike in the afternoon for a sunset loop around the island.
