Nacpan Beach stretches for four uninterrupted kilometres of golden-white sand along Palawan's north coast, backed by swaying coconut palms and rolling green hills. Unlike El Nido's famous island-hopping lagoons, Nacpan is a genuine long beach — spacious, airy, and relatively undeveloped despite growing in fame as travellers look beyond the over-visited highlights. Its calm, gentle surf makes it ideal for children and families who want a relaxed day in an extraordinary natural setting.
The beach forms part of the Nacpan-Calitang twin beaches — connected at a central sandbar to the quieter Calitang Beach on the other side. The dividing sandbar, reached on foot, is a popular photography spot where the two different-coloured seas meet. Nacpan's northern end is the most peaceful, with fewer huts and vendors, while the southern entrance has the main cluster of simple restaurants serving fresh seafood, coconut drinks, and noodle dishes.
Getting to Nacpan requires a rented motorbike or a shared van from El Nido town — the 45-minute journey along a mountain road offers spectacular views of the Bacuit Archipelago. The effort is part of the appeal; Nacpan's relative difficulty of access keeps its atmosphere wonderfully tranquil. It represents the best of Palawan's mainland coast: paradise that feels genuinely earned.
Rent a motorbike in El Nido (₱500–700/day) for full flexibility. Alternatively take a shared van from the El Nido terminal (₱200pp). The road is scenic but hilly — motorbike experience recommended. Journey takes 40–50 minutes.
November to May for calm seas and sunshine. December to March is the driest period. Avoid June to October (southwest monsoon) when the road can become difficult and seas are rough. Sunrise visits are stunning.
Bring cash — there are no ATMs near the beach. Pack sunscreen, water, and snacks. The twin beach walk to Calitang is excellent at low tide. Arrive before 10am to beat day-tripper vans from El Nido town.
