Las Cabanas Beach sits just five kilometres from El Nido town on Palawan, making it the most accessible of the area's celebrated beaches. Despite its proximity, it feels worlds away from the town's bustle — a wide crescent of white sand open to the South China Sea with dramatic limestone karst islands looming on the horizon. The beach is particularly famous for its sunset views, which rank among Palawan's finest as the sky transforms from gold to violet behind the jagged silhouettes of the Bacuit Archipelago.
The beach features one of the Philippines' most spectacular ziplines, which launches from a hilltop behind the beach and swoops visitors over the water to a wooden platform at sea level — an experience combining adrenaline with extraordinary island panoramas. At the southern end of the beach, a rocky headland offers excellent snorkeling with clear water, healthy coral, and abundant tropical fish. Kayaks can be rented from the beach to explore the nearby channels.
Las Cabanas has more facilities and a livelier atmosphere than more remote Palawan beaches, yet still maintains a relaxed character. Multiple beachfront restaurants serve freshly caught fish and cold San Miguel beer; the most popular fill up around sunset when travellers arrive from El Nido to watch the day end in spectacular fashion. For a more peaceful experience, arrive in the morning when the beach is calm, clear, and rarely visited.
eTrike from El Nido town (₱100–150 each way, 15 min). Motorbike rental also popular. A tricycle road runs directly to the beach entrance. Easily combined with a visit to the nearby Corong-Corong beach area.
Visit in the morning for calm snorkeling water and an empty beach. Arrive by 5pm for the legendary sunset. November to May is the dry season with the most reliable conditions. Avoid the June–October monsoon.
The zipline (₱200) is worth every peso for the view. Snorkeling gear is available to rent. Reserve a table at a restaurant with a sea-facing view for sunset — they fill up fast. Bring your camera for the golden-hour light.
