About Dumaluan Beach

Dumaluan Beach is the quieter, more spacious alternative to Panglao's famous Alona Beach, offering a similarly beautiful tropical setting with a noticeably calmer atmosphere. Located about 10 minutes by tricycle from Alona on the southern coast of Panglao Island, it's a wide, open crescent of white sand backed by a handful of mid-range resorts and open-sided beach restaurants. The water is a brilliant shade of turquoise, warm year-round, and sheltered from strong winds by the island's geography — making it excellent for swimming at most tidal conditions.

The beach is popular with Filipino families, honeymooners, and travellers who want the beauty of Panglao without the bar noise and dive boat congestion of Alona. The sand here is notably finer and the beach is wider, allowing for more comfortable sunbathing. The gentle gradient of the sea floor makes it safe for children, and the lack of strong currents or boat traffic in the immediate swimming area adds to its family appeal.

While Dumaluan lacks the extensive dive infrastructure of Alona, most resorts can arrange snorkel trips and boat tours to nearby sites. The beach's big draw is its pace — unhurried, comfortable, and genuinely relaxing. Combine a few nights here with day trips to Alona for diving and evenings at the nearby Chocolate Hills viewpoints and Tarsier Sanctuary to get the most out of a Bohol holiday.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Dumaluan Beach better than Alona for families?
For pure relaxation and family beach days, yes. Dumaluan is wider, quieter, and less commercial than Alona. It's safe for young children with calm, shallow water near the shore. For snorkelling and diving, Alona is the better base. Many families base themselves at Dumaluan and day-trip to Alona.
Is there good snorkeling at Dumaluan Beach?
There is some snorkeling directly from shore, though it's not as rich as Alona. For the best snorkeling, book a boat trip to Balicasag Island or Cervera Shoal from your resort — both are 30-minute boat rides with world-class coral and fish life.
What are the best things to do besides beach relaxation?
Join a Bohol countryside tour: Chocolate Hills, Tarsier Sanctuary, Loboc River Floating Restaurant, Hanging Bridge, and Butterfly Garden are all popular half-day attractions typically offered as a combo tour from most resorts (₱1,000–1,500 per person).
