About Playa Soliman

Playa Soliman is one of the Riviera Maya's true hidden gems — a sheltered bay roughly 27 kilometres north of Tulum where a freshwater cenote empties into the Caribbean, creating a layered underwater environment of extraordinary clarity. The result is a halocline mixing zone that snorkellers and free-divers find utterly captivating: freshwater floating above saltwater, visibility extending what seems like forever.

The bay itself is almost entirely enclosed by a natural rocky headland, protecting swimmers and kayakers from waves and strong currents. The beach is narrow but immaculate, fringed with coconut palms and jungle vegetation. A handful of low-key palapa restaurants serve fresh ceviche and grilled fish. There are no big beach clubs here — just nature, silence, and the occasional pelican gliding overhead.

The surrounding area sits within the buffer zone of the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, which means the jungle behind the beach is teeming with wildlife. Manatees are occasionally spotted in the calm lagoon waters, and the night skies here — free from city light pollution — are some of the most spectacular in the Yucatán Peninsula.
