About Playa Ruinas

Playa Ruinas sits dramatically beneath the ancient Tulum Mayan ruins, offering one of the most photographed beach views in the Caribbean. The turquoise waters and white sand framed by centuries-old clifftop temples create an unforgettable setting that blends history with natural beauty.

Standing on the clifftop, the panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea stretching endlessly beneath the weathered stone walls of the Mayan ruins is simply breathtaking. After exploring the archaeological site and learning about the ancient civilization that once thrived here, visitors can descend the carved stone staircase to cool off in the impossibly turquoise waters below.

For the best experience, arrive early in the morning when the ruins open to beat the crowds and the midday heat. The beach can get busy by late morning as tour groups arrive, so early birds are rewarded with a more peaceful and photogenic experience. Bring water and sunscreen, as shade and facilities on the beach itself are minimal.
