Medano Beach is the most visited beach in Los Cabos and the only swimmable stretch in Cabo San Lucas itself, sitting inside the bay where the Sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean meet. With over a kilometre of golden sand fringed by resorts, beach clubs, and the iconic El Arco formation rising dramatically at its southern end, Medano delivers the quintessential Cabo experience — sun-soaked, lively, and extraordinarily scenic.
The beach hums with energy around the clock. Jet ski operators work the waterline, parasailing rigs launch overhead, and a string of legendary beach bars — including the internationally famous Mango Deck and Monkey Bar — keep music and margaritas flowing all day. Despite the buzz, the calm bay water is genuinely swimmable and safe for families, and the warm sea temperature draws swimmers well into December and beyond.
From Medano, glass-bottom boat tours and water taxis depart regularly to El Arco (Land's End), Lover's Beach, and Divorce Beach — iconic Los Cabos landmarks accessible only by boat. As the sun goes down, the beach transforms into one of the most spectacular sunset-watching spots in Mexico, with the arch silhouetted in shades of amber and rose. Medano Beach is not a quiet retreat — it is Los Cabos at full voltage, and it is utterly unforgettable.
Beach access is flat and easy. The main beach promenade and most resort areas are wheelchair accessible. Sand can make navigation difficult but beach wheelchairs are available at some resorts. The central beach area is busy and amenity-rich for visitors with varying mobility needs.
Medano Beach is directly adjacent to Cabo San Lucas marina and downtown. Walking distance from the central hotel zone. Taxis and ride-shares widely available from Los Cabos International Airport (40 minutes). The beach is public and free to access.
