Surfing Beaches in Menorca

The tramuntana wind brings exceptional conditions to Menorca's north coast

Menorca is primarily a calm-water destination, but the famous tramuntana wind — a powerful north wind that sweeps down from France — creates conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing on the island's exposed north coast beaches. Cala Pregonda and the beaches of the north coast see the best wind exposure.

North Coast Wind Conditions

  • 💨Tramuntana Wind: The dominant north wind from October to May. Creates choppy conditions and reliable wind for windsurfers and kitesurfers.
  • 📍Best spots: North coast beaches, particularly the area around Fornells Bay and exposed north-facing coves.
  • ⚠️Note: Traditional wave surfing is limited on Menorca due to the enclosed Mediterranean geography. Wind sports and SUP are the most popular water sports.
