About Scala dei Turchi Beach

Scala dei Turchi (Stairway of the Turks) is one of the most unique geological formations in Europe β€” a blinding white marl cliff that cascades down to the sea in smooth, staircase-like terraces. The beach below features soft white sand against turquoise water, with the dramatic white cliff curving above like a natural sculpture.

Named after the Moorish pirates who reportedly used the natural 'staircase' to raid the coast, Scala dei Turchi is now a protected natural monument. The best experience is walking along the terraces themselves (where permitted) and watching the sunset paint the white rock in shades of gold and pink.
