Baia dei Turchi (Bay of the Turks) is a wild, unspoiled crescent of golden sand sheltered by a dense Mediterranean pine forest near the historic town of Otranto. Legend has it that Ottoman warriors landed here during their 1480 siege of the city. Today, it's a nature preserve where the pine canopy extends almost to the water's edge.
A 15-minute walk through fragrant pine woodland leads to this stunning beach. The water is shallow, warm, and incredibly clear — ideal for children and snorkeling. The combination of wild natural beauty and ease of access makes it one of Puglia's most loved beaches.
15-minute flat walk through pine forest from the car park. Sandy path may be difficult for wheelchairs.
