Perissa Beach is Santorini's longest beach β a dramatic 7-kilometre stretch of jet-black volcanic sand backed by the imposing Mesa Vouno headland. The contrast between the black sand, deep blue sea, and whitewashed buildings creates a uniquely Cycladic atmosphere. The beach is lined with excellent restaurants, bars, and water sports centres.
Perissa offers something for everyone: beach bars with pumping music, quieter sections for relaxation, and water sports from jet-skiing to parasailing. The ancient site of Thera sits atop Mesa Vouno, reachable by a steep hike. The beach's black sand absorbs heat quickly, so bring water shoes for midday.
Easy flat access. Beach clubs offer accessible sunbed areas.
Buses run regularly from Fira (25 min). Taxis and rental cars available. About 15 km from the airport.
