Panama City Beach stretches for 27 miles along the Florida Panhandle's Gulf Coast, making it one of the longest continuous beach resort destinations in the continental United States. Like its Emerald Coast neighbors Destin and Pensacola Beach, the sand at Panama City Beach is derived from Appalachian quartz β fine, white, and cool to the touch even in the summer heatβ and the Gulf water maintains the characteristic emerald-to-turquoise clarity that defines this entire section of the Florida coast. What distinguishes PCB from its neighbors is the sheer scale and completeness of its resort infrastructure built over decades into one of the most comprehensively equipped beach destinations in the South.
The beach runs roughly from the Hathaway Bridge in the east to the old Mexico Beach community in the west, but the resort core runs along the Front Beach Road and US-98 corridor that serves as a spine for the entire system. The Gulf World Marine Park, Shipwreck Island Waterpark, ZooWorld Zoological Conservancy, and the full suite of parasailing, jet-ski, snorkel, and dolphin cruise operations make PCB especially popular with families. The famous Pier Park β a large indoor-outdoor shopping and entertainment complex β provides significant retail and dining options centered on the beach experience.
The western end of the beach at Camp Helen State Park preserves one of the last natural beach-dune-lake ecosystems on the Panhandle, and the eastern end transitions into historic Mexico Beach. The sheer width of the accessible beach is extraordinary in places β at low tide some sections present 200+ feet of usable sand between the water and the dune line. The Gulf conditions are generally mild enough for young children, with the shallow shelf extending offshore before depth increases meaningfully.

Excellent accessibility with multiple ADA-compliant beach access ramps along Front Beach Road, beach wheelchairs available through the city, accessible parking and facilities throughout the resort corridor.
ECP Airport (Northwest Florida Beaches International) is 30 km east. US-98 and the Mid-Bay Bridge connector provide access. The Baytown Trolley operates seasonally. The scale of the destination means most visitors drive and use the comprehensive parking infrastructure along the beach.
