While Dakhla is famous for its kite-screaming wind sports, Dragon Island represents its quieter, wilder side. This elongated sandbar in the middle of the lagoon shifts shape with every tide and can only be reached by kayak or organised boat tour from the main waterfront. At dawn and dusk, hundreds of greater flamingos gather here alongside egrets, oystercatchers, and migratory waders. It is one of the most remote and peaceful beach experiences in all of Morocco.
