About Kasjuni Beach

Kasjuni Beach is tucked into the western slope of Marjan Hill — Split's beloved green promontory covered with pine and oak forest — at the far end of a roughly 30-minute walk from the city centre. The effort required deters many casual day-trippers, resulting in an unusually peaceful and uncrowded cove that has become a favourite among Split residents who value quiet seaside time away from the city's tourist flow.

The water here is exceptionally clear, fed by currents around the open western tip of the Marjan peninsula, and the pebble beach drops steadily into excellent snorkeling territory within just metres of the shore. The rocky underwater landscape hosts sea urchins, small fish, and sea grass beds that reward anyone who takes the time to explore beneath the surface. Snorkelers often find visibility of 10–15 metres in the clear Adriatic water.

A beach bar operates in summer serving drinks and basic food, and sun loungers are available for rent, but the atmosphere remains calm and local. The surrounding pine forest provides natural shade in the late afternoon — a welcome respite during the intense heat of Croatian summer. Views from the beach stretch across the open Adriatic toward the distant silhouette of the island of Šolta.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Kasjuni beach crowded?
Kasjuni is significantly less crowded than Split's central beaches — the 30-minute walk from the city naturally filters out casual visitors. It's busiest on hot weekend afternoons but never reaches the saturation levels of Bačvice Beach.
Is snorkeling gear available for rent?
Equipment is not always available for rent at the beach itself — it's best to bring your own or rent from a dive or sports shop in Split Old Town before making the walk. Several shops near the Riva promenade rent snorkeling sets.
Can I walk from Split Old Town?
Yes, the walk along the Marjan Hill coastal path takes about 30 minutes from the Old Town and is pleasant — passing smaller coves and viewpoints along the way. It's an enjoyable route in itself, not just a means to reach the beach.
