About Reñaca Beach

Reñaca Beach is Chile's most celebrated coastal destination, a crescent of golden sand set against the dramatic hills of the Valparaiso region. Located just north of Viña del Mar, Reñaca has earned its reputation as the country's premier summer hotspot, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors every season. The beach stretches for over a kilometre, divided naturally into distinct zones — from lively social areas packed with young beachgoers to quieter family-friendly coves sheltered by rocky outcrops.

The surf at Reñaca is remarkably consistent, with Pacific swells delivering rideable waves year-round. Beginners favour the gentler breaks near the southern end, while more experienced surfers head north where the waves grow more powerful against the rocky headlands. Surf schools and board rental shops line the beachfront promenade, making it easy for visitors to catch their first wave. Beyond the surf, the beach offers excellent swimming conditions during summer, with lifeguards stationed along the entire stretch.

As the sun sets, Reñaca transforms into one of Chile's most vibrant nightlife scenes. Rooftop bars and restaurants perched on the hillside terraces come alive with music and cocktails, offering panoramic views of the Pacific sunset. The surrounding neighbourhood is packed with boutique shops, seafood restaurants, and gelato parlours. Despite its party reputation, Reñaca retains a genuine Chilean charm — families gather for traditional asados on the beach, fishermen sell the day's catch at the southern pier, and the coastal hills glow pink in the evening light.
