About Las Salinas Beach

Las Salinas Beach is one of Viña del Mar's most beloved family beaches, a compact golden cove sheltered by rocky headlands that calm the powerful Pacific swells. Located in the heart of Chile's "Garden City," the beach sits along the elegant Avenida San Martín, surrounded by apartment buildings, hotels, and some of the finest seafood restaurants on the central coast. Its protected position means the waves here are gentler than at nearby beaches, making it an ideal spot for families with young children.

The beach has long been a favourite of Viña del Mar's residents and summer visitors alike. During the morning, the cove fills with families building sandcastles and paddling in the shallow turquoise waters. By afternoon, the promenade comes alive with strollers, joggers, and couples enjoying ice cream from the many parlours lining the seafront. The rocky areas at either end of the beach are popular with tide-pool explorers, and on clear days, the views across the bay stretch all the way to the container port of Valparaiso.

Beyond the sand, Las Salinas offers easy access to many of Viña del Mar's top attractions. The famous Flower Clock is a short walk south along the waterfront, and the Fonck Museum, home to a genuine Easter Island moai statue, is just a few blocks inland. The Casino de Viña del Mar, one of Chile's grandest entertainment venues, is also nearby. For those who want to explore further afield, the UNESCO World Heritage streets of Valparaiso are just a 15-minute drive along the coast, making Las Salinas the perfect base for a day of culture and beach relaxation.
