Praia Mole is Florianópolis's most bohemian and social beach, beloved by the LGBTQ+ community, surfers, and those who appreciate a free-spirited, unpretentious atmosphere. The beach sits between two rocky headlands that create consistent Atlantic surf, and the backdrop of Atlantic Forest-covered hills makes it one of the most beautiful beach settings on the island. The name "mole" (soft) refers to the gentle quality of the sand.
The beach bars (barracas) at Praia Mole are legendary in Brazilian beach culture — serving some of the finest caipirinha on the island alongside fresh seafood. Sunday afternoons bring crowds of locals and tourists mixing in a festival atmosphere that captures the spirit of Florianopolis at its most relaxed. The beach is located just north of the Joaquina surf beach access road and the two complement each other perfectly for a full day out on the east coast.
Short walk from roadside parking through dune vegetation to the beach. Steps from the bar area to the sand. Bus from TICEN terminal serves the route.
Bus from TICEN terminal runs to the Praia Mole access on SC-406. By car, follow SC-406 south from the Lagoa da Conceição intersection. Florianópolis Airport (FLN) is approximately 35 minutes. Parking is limited on busy weekends.
