Canasvieiras Beach is the most popular and developed beach on Florianópolis's northern coast, offering calm, protected waters that are ideal for families with small children. The gentle bays of the north shore shelter the beach from heavy Atlantic swells, creating warm, clear conditions that make it the favourite destination for Argentinian tourists crossing the border for Brazilian summer vacations. At the height of summer, Canasvieiras buzzes with a festive, multicultural holiday energy as Brazilian and Argentinian families share the sand.
The promenade behind the beach is one of the most pleasant on the island, lined with seafood restaurants, ice cream shops, souvenir stalls, and rental shops hiring out paddleboards, kayaks, and bicycle quadricycles. The architecture of the neighbourhood reflects decades of tourist infrastructure investment. The beach is served by regular bus from the city centre, making it accessible without a rental car, though the journey takes 45 minutes.
Flat easy beach access from promenade with multiple entry points. Fully accessible promenade. Bus service from TICEN terminal available.
Bus from TICEN terminal (Route 210 Canasvieiras) takes approximately 45 minutes. By car, take SC-401 north. Florianópolis Airport (FLN) approximately 35 minutes. Ample street parking and paid lots along the beachfront.
