About Surfers Paradise Beach

Surfers Paradise Beach is Australia's most visited holiday beach — a 3 km arc of golden sand backed by one of the country's most dramatic skylines of high-rise hotels and residential towers. The Gold Coast receives 300+ days of sunshine per year, and Surfers Paradise fully leans into its role as Australia's holiday capital, with an energy and scale that is impossible to ignore.

The surf here is consistent and well-managed by Surf Life Saving Queensland's extensive beach patrol network — one of the best-resourced beach safety operations in the world. The beach is divided into multiple patrol zones with lifeguards staffing the red-and-yellow flag swimming areas. The Gold Coast beaches as a system receive more patrol hours than virtually any other beach chain on Earth. Learner and intermediate surfers do well with the regular beachbreak.

Away from the beach, Surfers Paradise is one of the Gold Coast's main entertainment precincts — Cavill Avenue is lined with shops, restaurants, clubs and bars, with the beachfront SEALIFE Aquarium nearby. The vibe is unapologetically brash and fun. For families, theme parks (Warner Bros. Movie World, Dreamworld, Sea World) are all within 30 minutes of the beach. Evening Meter Maids offering coins for expired parking meters have been a Surfers institution since 1965.
