Ksamil Beach is Albania's most celebrated coastal destination, often compared to the Caribbean for its powder-white sand and impossibly turquoise water. Located at the southern tip of the Albanian Riviera, just a few kilometres from the Greek border, Ksamil sits within the boundaries of Butrint National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — giving it a unique blend of natural beauty and ancient history.
The beach is famous for its three small islands visible just offshore, easily reachable by a short swim or pedal boat ride. Each island offers its own secluded strip of sand surrounded by crystal-clear waters teeming with marine life, making snorkelling here an unforgettable experience. The main beach curves gently along the coast, dotted with beach bars and restaurants serving fresh seafood at remarkably affordable prices.
While Ksamil has grown in popularity in recent years, it retains a laid-back charm that sets it apart from more commercialised Mediterranean resorts. Visitors can explore the nearby Butrint archaeological ruins in the morning, swim out to the islands in the afternoon, and watch the sunset over Corfu from the waterfront — all in a single perfect day on the Albanian Riviera.
The main beach area is accessible via paved paths from the village. Some sections have natural terrain that may be challenging for wheelchair users. The central stretch has the easiest access.
Fly to Corfu (CFU) and take a ferry to Sarandë, then drive or bus 25 minutes south to Ksamil. Alternatively, fly to Tirana (TIA) and drive approximately 4.5 hours south along the coast.
